Suggested Minimum tips for tour

Day 01: (Friday) Arrive Cairo, clear immigration and customs then staff will transfer you to the Le Meridien Pyramids hotel. Welcome Dinner (based on your flight arriving no later than 6PM). Overnight Cairo (D)

Entry visa: $15 + $3 service charge
Tour Leader: $1 (this is the person who will meet you at the airport, assist with the transfer to the hotel, assist with checking in and go over your tour with you).
Baggage handler/airport: 50 cents per bag
NOTE: At the airport and perhaps other places its common for 3
or 4 people to try and get involved with handling the luggage.
Give the tip to the one person who you feel does the most and if others ask, point to the person you gave the money.

Driver: 50 cents per person for transfers
Waiters: (excellent service) 50 cents per person at buffets,
add 5%-10% for other meals when you get excellent service
(a service charge of 12% is already included)

Day 02: (Saturday) International buffet breakfast, Visit Memphis (the ancient capital), Sakkarra with the Stepped Pyramid and Dahshur with it's famous Bent and Red Pyramids plus the new Imhotep museum. Lunch at a local restaurant. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight Cairo (B,L,D)

TOTAL Day 02 tips: About $7 per person

Day 03: (Sunday) Enjoy an international buffet breakfast and check out before starting the day at the Pyramids at Giza, home of the 7th wonder of the world, the Great Pyramid and the inscrutable Sphinx. Visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities featuring King Tut's treasures. Afterwards staff transfers you to the airport, assists with checking in and you fly to Luxor. Arriving staff transfers you to the Sonesta Luxor Hotel. Overnight Luxor (B)

Day 04: (Monday) Buffet breakfast, check out, staff transfers you to board the M/S Amarco or the M/S Royal Viking. Check in and have lunch. Afternoon free to enjoy Luxor. Dinner.

Maid Luxor hotel: 50 cents per person or $1 per room
Baggage handler/hotel: 50 cents per bag
Tour leader: $1 per person
Driver: 50 cents per person for transfer + $1 for tour
Baggage handler/cruise: 50 cents per person
Tour Guide: $5.00 per person per day paid at end of cruise
Cruise staff: Many people leave an envelope at the front desk with their cabin number on it at the end of the cruise. Basically we suggest $5 per night, per cabin ($2.50 per person) to cover tips to ships crew. This includes the waiters and maids plus other staff on ship but NOT guide.
TOTAL Day 04 Tips: About $4 per person (No tips yet for cruise or guide)

Day 05: (Tuesday) Breakfast then visit the Temples of Karnak and Luxor. Sail to Esna while having Lunch. Dinner. Overnight Esna. (B,L,D)
Driver: $1 per person

Day 06: (Wednesday) Breakfast, Lunch while sailing to Edfu. Visit the Horus Temple in Edfu. Dinner while sailing to Kom Ombo. Overnight Kom Ombo (B,L,D)
Carriage or bus driver at Edfu: $1 per person
Cruise staff and tour guide paid at end of cruise
TOTAL Day 06 tips: About $1 per person

Day 07: (Thursday) Breakfast while sailing to Aswan. Arriving visit the High Dam, the Pharaoh’s granite quarries with the unfinished Obelisk plus the Temple of Philae. Return to the ship for Lunch. Free time to enjoy Aswan. Dinner. Overnight Aswan. (B,L,D)
Driver: $1 per person

TOTAL Day 07 tips: About $1 per person

Day 08: (Friday) Breakfast with the morning free to enjoy Aswan or enjoy an optional excursion to Abu Simbel to see the famous temples of Ramses. (extra cost of $250 per person). Lunch on board. FREE BONUS: Sail on the Nile by Felucca (native sailboat). (Please note that these boats are solely wind powered, if there is no wind this will not operate). Dinner. Overnight Aswan. (B,L,D)

Day 09: (Saturday) Breakfast while sailing to Kom Ombo. Visit the Kom Ombo Temple. Lunch while sailing to Edfu. Continue to Esna, cross the river lock and sail to Luxor. Dinner. Overnight Luxor (B,L,D)

TOTAL Day 09 tips: $0

Day 10: (Sunday) Breakfast then visit the West Bank of Luxor including the Valley of the Kings, Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon. After the visit return to the ship for lunch. Afternoon free to enjoy Luxor. Dinner. Overnight Luxor (B,L,D)

TOTAL Day 10 tips: About $1 per person

Day 11: (Monday) After breakfast, disembark, staff transfers you to the airport, assists with checking in and you fly to Cairo. Arriving transfer by air-conditioned vehicle to Alexandria, the city Alexander the Great built and Cleopatra made famous. Enjoy the comfort of the Maritim Jolie Ville Hotel, right on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea. Overnight Alexandria (B on the ship, Lunch en route to Alexandria, Dinner in Alexandria at the hotel)
Cruise staff: 6 nights @ $2.50 per person per night in a twin room ($15 per person, double occupancy) Single rooms should pay $30.
Tour guide: $30 per person
Luggage handler at ship: 50 cents per bag
Driver: $1 per person
Luggage handler at Luxor airport: 50 cents per bag
Luxor Tour leader: $1 per person

Day 12: (Tuesday) Breakfast, A full day touring the wonders of Alexandria including the catacombs, the museums, the Greco-roman sites and the new library. Lunch at a local restaurant, Dinner at the hotel. Overnight Alexandria (B,L,D)
Maid: 50 cents per person, $1 for single rooms

Tour guide: $5 per person
Driver: $1 per person
TOTAL Day 12 tips: About $7 per person

Day 13: (Wednesday) Breakfast, check out and return to Cairo. Lunch at a local restaurant. Enjoy the comfort of the Marriott hotel. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight Cairo (B,L,D)

Alexandria luggage handler: 50 cents per bag
Driver: $1 to $2 per person
Tour leader: $1 per person
Cairo hotel luggage handler: 50 cents per bag
TOTAL Day 13 tips: $5 per person

Day 14: (Thursday) After your buffet breakfast enjoy a tour of Old Cairo with it's famous churches and synagogue. Lunch at a local restaurant. Visit the Citadel of Salah el Din, bane of the crusaders and the Alabaster Mosque then end the day with a visit to the Khan el Khalili bazaar where travelers have been finding bargains since the middle ages. Overnight Cairo (B,L,D)
Maid: 50 cents per person, $1 for single rooms

Tour guide: $5 per person
Driver: $1 per person
TOTAL Day 14 tips: $7 per person

Day 15: (Friday) Staff will transfer you to the airport, assist with exit formalities and checking in for your international departure. (meals on the flight)
Maid: 50 cents per person or $1 for single rooms
Luggage handler at hotel: 50 cents per bag
Tour leader: $1 per person
Driver: 50 cents per person
Luggage handler at airport: 50 cents per bag
TOTAL Day 15 tips: About $3 per person

Please know that the entire tourism industry in Egypt is underpaid and overworked. The average MONTHLY salary for the waiters, bellmen, front desk staff, etc. at hotels and on cruises is $100-$150. This is why everyone is looking for tips.
When you get good service think about rewarding it.
If you don’t get good service then do not tip them anything.

Other costs to expect
bottled water at hotels or on the cruise: $1 to $3 for a small bottle, $2.50-$5 for a large bottle. NOTE: This is filtered water. If you order perrier it will cost more.
coffee or tea: 50 cents
alcoholic drinks:
beer: $3 per bottle
wine: local $4 to $6 per glass. imported will be more $$.
liquor: local $5 per cocktail, imported $8-$15 per cocktail
NON included meals per person (in hotel ala carte restaurants) Lunch $7 to $15, dinner $7 to $20 (think Applebees/Chili’s prices)
Fine dining restaurants would be more.
Buffets: lunch buffet $12-$20, dinner buffet $20-$30

beverages with meals: $300 per person
